Barack Obama was elected a year ago today.
The country is in Decline the waste and criminality of our past president Dick Cheney has come home to roost.
I voted for Barack because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and now a year later I am exhausted.
I am watching friends and family lose everything they own.
I am watching America unravel and yet the big money people on Wall Street seem to be doing well. Why don't you attack them the way FDR did?
President Obama are you listening?
I support you totally but where is the hope and where is the change?
President Obama stop listening to the people who caused this mess and crush them.
President Obama all of us are still out here but we are allot poorer and weaker.

Hi there. I'm a longtime lurker. Can you tell me why you believe Obama himself isn't part of the problem? I voted for him, too, but it's not as if he's passively watching while evildoers roll over his agenda. He's actively engaged in escalating Afghanistan; ignoring the crimes of the Bush administration; perpetuating the war in Iraq; ignoring the needs of the city of New Orleans; failing to punish those who caused the financial meltdown; arguing for continued secrecy for the executive branch; and the list goes on. I voted for him not because I thought he was a progressive (he's not), but because I thought an Obama presidency and all the attendant changes in personnel might increase the chances of progressives winning victories through continued organizing.
Anyway, enough from me. My initial question wasn't meant to be snarky. I'm really interested in hearing your opinion.

The problems that we are suffering from are the result of 30 years of Reaganism. All of us left right and center have caused this because we benefited. I think the problem with Obama is that he does not have the stomach to challenge Reaganism. The core belief the business is good and government is bad is the cause of all of this and until Obama is willing to attack this assumption he will continue to lose the argument.
I don't disagree. I just wonder why we should expect him to critique the pro-business philosophy? Are we ascribing to Obama our own hopes rather than dealing within the scope of his real leanings?
